Ocean kayaking in Cabo San Lucas is a recreational experience that should not be missed. The kayak-friendly waters of San Lucas Bay provide an opportunity for even novice kayakers to make the trip "on the water" from Medano Beach to Lover's Beach, all within view of the fabled "Land's End." Kayak rentals can be found at many points along the beaches of Cabo San Lucas. A variety of organized kayaking excursions or adventure tours are also offered for the area.

First-time kayakers should be sure that they have received instruction in the basics of rowing and proper technique for getting back in the kayak if one is in the water. A person should also be in reasonable physical condition. It is advisable to wear a hat and bring along sunscreen and drinking water for any kayaking activity in Cabo San Lucas. Kayaking should not be attempted on the Pacific side of the peninsula.

Experience the true unspoiled Cape region of Cabo San Lucas with an eco-conscious kayaking tour to hidden beaches and sheltered coves. Half or full day guided adventures are offered through Nomadas del Baja or Los Lobos del Mar, both located in San Jose del Cabo. Both promise a low guide to client ratio, ensuring your safety and personal attention to your questions and needs. Nomadas feature user-friendly, very comfortable one or two person Cobra kayaks. With a longer sleeker hull, Cobras are very stable and excellent for beginners. Intermediate and advanced users will find them fast, with excellent performance in ocean conditions.

Kayak adventures include a day trip to Cabo Pulmo with optional snorkeling equipment, transportation and lunch; and local morning and sunset Eco-Tours. Two to five day adventures are also offered to Baja California's remote ocean areas. All camping equipment, meals and expert instruction are included. Prices for kayaking range from $55 to $109 per person although longer excursions (2-5 days) are based on the requirements for the trip. Reservations must be made at least 12 hours in advance at any activities desk.

Kayakers traditionally have an extremely high regard for the environment. Be prepared to bring back any trash you create, and pick up a piece of trash from the beach to leave it even better than when you arrived.

Each kayaking adventure offers its own extras, from breakfast to dinner and beverages. All adventures are provided with necessary safety equipment and snorkeling gear. You'll need your bathing suit, comfortable outwear, hat, sun screen, towel, sunglasses and camera.
